Expect the Unexpected

After all the storms that hit our drought ridden city, we were eagerly looking forward to warm winter sunshine, sea lions and panoramic Pacific Ocean views along La Jolla Cove. We took a detour down Coast highway and ended up in front of the Cave Store, an unassuming store front situated at the bottom of Coast highway. Inside this little jewel holds the entrance to a tunnel built in the early 1900's.

For a nominal fee, you can enter the tunnel and descend over 140 steps to the mouth of a sea cave! The tunnel is well lit and hand rails will guide you down.

It's a sight not to be missed! The ocean waves crashing against the mouth of the cave will bring squeals of joy from even the most serious of personalities.

If you are a photographer, adventure seeker, tourist or local, take a moment and explore the Sunny Jim Sea Cave. You will not be disappointed.
